There was a pretty intense gathering of farriers this past week at Bloom Forge in Drummond, Wisconsin. Roy Bloom hosts a number of forging clinics at his facility and this was definitely a high powered, high intensity group going at it.
A number of farriers from the region decided to bring in one of the top hands in the competition world, Craig Trnka, from Edgewood, NM, to guide them through the two day clinic. Craig is the driving force behind the World Championship Blacksmiths Association– a group dedicated to improving the skills of its members by organizing top end forging competitions. Any one that has attended a WCB event can see why the participants steadily rise to the top in forging competitions.
